Goran "Goca" Jurić is a famous Croatian former professional footballer. He was born on February 5, 1963. Goran played as a defender, which means his main job was to stop the other team from scoring goals.
During his exciting career, he played for many different football clubs. These included Velež Mostar, Red Star Belgrade, Celta Vigo, Croatia Zagreb, Yokohama F. Marinos, and NK Zagreb. He also played for his country, representing both the Yugoslavia national football team and later the Croatia national football team.

Playing for Clubs
Goran Jurić started his professional football journey in 1982 with Velež Mostar. He played there for five years, showing off his skills as a strong defender. After that, he moved to Red Star Belgrade in 1987. With Red Star, he achieved great success, winning several league titles and even the prestigious European Cup in 1991. This was a huge achievement for any player!
In 1991, Goran moved to Spain to play for Celta Vigo. He played many games for them. However, in 1993, he had to leave the club because he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. This is a health condition that affects how the body uses sugar. Even with this challenge, Goran continued his football career.
He then returned to Croatia and joined Croatia Zagreb (now known as Dinamo Zagreb). He played there for a long time, from 1993 to 2000. During this period, he also had short loan spells at Hrvatski Dragovoljac and NK Zagreb. With Dinamo Zagreb, he won many Croatian league titles and cups. Towards the end of his career, he played for Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan in 2000, and then finished his playing days back at NK Zagreb in 2001.

Representing Yugoslavia
He first played for the Yugoslavia national football team in September 1988. His first game was a friendly match against Spain. He played a total of 4 games for Yugoslavia between 1988 and 1989.
Playing for Croatia
After Yugoslavia broke up, Goran started playing for the Croatia national football team. His first game for Croatia was in April 1997. He was part of the Croatian squad that went to the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France. Even though he didn't play in any matches during the tournament, he was a valuable member of the team. Croatia had an amazing World Cup, finishing in third place and winning a bronze medal! This was a fantastic achievement for the country.
Goran's last international game was in October 1999, during a qualification match for the European Championship against Serbia and Montenegro. He played a total of 16 games for Croatia.
