Meet Gordon Tracy: The Aquanaut Hero
Gordon Tracy loves everything to do with water! He enjoys skin-diving and water-skiing. He was named after a real astronaut, Leroy Gordon Cooper. Gordon is a highly trained aquanaut, which means he is an expert at working underwater.
Before joining International Rescue, Gordon worked for the Submarine Service. He also spent time with the World Aquanaut Security Patrol (WASP). During his WASP days, he commanded a special deep-sea submarine called a bathyscaphe. He even spent a year underwater studying how to farm marine life. Gordon is also an expert in oceanography, which is the study of oceans. He even designed his own special underwater breathing device!
Gordon's Amazing Skills
Gordon is not just a pilot; he's also a fantastic swimmer. He is one of the fastest freestyle swimmers in the world. He even won an Olympic gold medal for the butterfly stroke!
Before International Rescue started, Gordon had a serious accident. His super-fast hydrofoil speedboat crashed and was completely destroyed. Gordon spent four months recovering in the hospital. But he didn't let that stop him! Now, he pilots Thunderbird 4, the world's most advanced one-person submarine.
Gordon is known for being good-natured and full of energy. He is strong and determined, which makes him a respected leader. Besides piloting Thunderbird 4, he sometimes helps his brother Virgil as the co-pilot of Thunderbird 2.
Gordon's Personality and Hobbies
Gordon is often seen as the funniest brother in the Tracy family. Sometimes his jokes get him into trouble with his dad, Jeff! For example, in one episode, he made a joke about Grandma's special edible transmitter, which annoyed Jeff.
When he's not on a mission, Gordon enjoys playing chess, often with his brothers Scott or Brains. He also likes going fishing and playing the guitar.
Gordon in Thunderbirds (2004 Film)
In the live-action movie Thunderbirds from 2004, Ben Torgeson played Gordon. However, this movie mostly focused on a younger Alan Tracy, so we don't learn much about Gordon's character in this version.
Gordon in Thunderbirds Are Go! (2015 Series)
In the newer CGI series Thunderbirds Are Go!, David Menkin provides Gordon's voice. In this show, Gordon has blonde hair, unlike his original red hair. He and his brother John have swapped hair colors, just like Scott and Virgil.
Besides piloting Thunderbird 4, Gordon also helps pilot other devices that Thunderbird 2 carries. For example, he pilots the new Elevator Cars. In this series, Gordon is still the funny one. He is also described as having a loud voice and unique taste in clothes. His International Rescue uniform now has a scuba-diving mouthpiece attached to his yellow sash. In the original series, his sash was orange.
