Gordonville is a small place in the northwest part of Grayson County, Texas, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government.
A Look Back in Time
Gordonville is located right next to Farm to Market Road 901. It also sits on the edge of a big lake called Lake Texoma.
For many years, before 1872, this area was a large sheep ranch. Imagine lots of sheep grazing here!
During the American Civil War, a man named William Quantrill and his group often came to Gordonville. Quantrill decided to name this place. He named it after his treasurer, a person who handled money, whose name was Silas M. Gordon. That's how Gordonville got its name!
