Gossabrough is a small coastal village located on the southeast side of Yell island in Shetland, Scotland. It's a charming place with a "wick" (which means a small bay or inlet) and a "ness" (a headland or point of land). The main road, the B9081 road, helps people get to Gossabrough. You can find the Wick of Gossabrough between Gossabrough Ness and the Saddle of Swarister. The beautiful Loch of Hudon is also nearby, just to the southwest.

A Look into Gossabrough's Past
Gossabrough has a long and interesting history. Long ago, early Norse people lived here. We know this because the remains of their rectangular buildings have been found in the area. There's even a ruined broch (an ancient stone tower) in Gossabrough.
In 1924, a ship called the "White Lady" was shipwrecked near Gossabrough. Locals sometimes called it the "Widden Wife." This event became a part of the village's stories.
At the start of the 1900s, Gossabrough was very small, with only three or four houses. Since then, a couple more houses have been built. In those days, a local trading steamer would visit Gossabrough regularly, bringing supplies and connecting the village to other places. The old "haa" (a type of manor house) in Gossabrough is now in ruins, but it was once an important building.
