The Gosselin River is a small river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Fortier River (Panache River tributary). The Fortier River then joins the Gatineau River, and finally the big Ottawa River.
You can find the Gosselin River in the western part of La Tuque, a city in the Mauricie region of Quebec. The entire river flows through an area called Gosselin Township.
For a long time, logging and forestry have been the main activities around this river. The river usually freezes over from the middle of November until the middle of April.

Where the Gosselin River Flows
The Gosselin River is surrounded by other rivers and lakes.

Gosselin Lake: The River's Start
Gosselin Lake is where the Gosselin River begins. This lake is about 8.3 kilometers (5.2 miles) long. It sits at an elevation of 414 meters (1,358 feet).
The lake is located about 49 kilometers (30 miles) west of the village of Parent. It is also about 27 kilometers (17 miles) southeast of the village of Clova, Quebec. You can reach Clova by following the Canadian National Railway.
Gosselin Lake stretches towards the southwest. It runs almost parallel to the Fortier River (Panache River tributary), but on its northwest side.
The River's Journey
From Gosselin Lake, the river flows southwest, then turns south. Along its path, it crosses a few smaller lakes. The total length of the Gosselin River is about 5.4 kilometers (3.4 miles).
Finally, the Gosselin River joins the north shore of the Fortier River (Panache River tributary).

The official name "Gosselin River" was formally recognized on December 5, 1968. This was done by the Place Names Bank of the Commission de toponymie du Québec, which is like a special committee that names places in Quebec.
