Different Types of Governors
Sometimes, a governor might not serve a full six-year term. This can happen for different reasons:
- Interim Governor: An interim governor is a temporary leader chosen to fill the position until a new election can be held or a permanent governor is appointed. This happens when the elected governor cannot finish their term.
- Acting Governor: An acting governor steps in for a very short time, often when the elected governor is away or temporarily unable to perform their duties.
- Substitute Governor: A substitute governor is appointed by the state legislature to complete the rest of a governor's term if the elected governor leaves office permanently before their term ends.
