Grace Dove (born July 25, 1991) is a Canadian actress and TV host. She is known for her roles in movies like The Revenant (2015) and How It Ends (2018). In 2022, she acted with Hilary Swank in the TV show Alaska Daily. In this show, they played journalists who reported on the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
Early Life and Education
Grace Dove was born on July 25, 1991. She is from the Secwepemc First Nation. Her family is part of the Canim Lake Indian Band in British Columbia, Canada.
She grew up in Prince George, British Columbia. She went to Salmon Valley Elementary School and Kelly Road Secondary School. Her father was a filmmaker. He often took her to Hollywood when she was a child. After high school, she moved to Vancouver to study acting. She attended the Vancouver Film School.
Career Highlights
Grace Dove started acting at a young age. When she was ten, she became a TV correspondent. She worked on a children's show called Splatterday in Prince George. She also co-hosted a TV show called UnderExposed.
She appeared in the short film These Walls in 2012. After acting school, she went to many auditions. She then got a big role in the 2015 movie The Revenant. She played the wife of a character named Hugh Glass. The director, Alejandro González Iñárritu, did not audition her in the usual way. He asked her questions to learn about her as a person.
Grace Dove acted opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant. She said she had to be very open and ready for anything. She prepared herself physically, emotionally, and spiritually for the role. She also tried to connect with her own family history for the part.
In 2016, The New York Times newspaper wrote about her. They said she was one of the newer faces in entertainment. The fashion industry was interested in her to help promote new styles.
