Graham Brown (born October 24, 1924 – died December 13, 2011) was an American actor. He was famous for his work in theatre. He also appeared in many films and television shows during his career.

Early Life and Acting Career
Graham Brown was born Robert E. Brown in New York City. Before becoming an actor, he was a boxer for a short time. He went to Howard University and earned a degree in theatre. He also studied a special acting technique called method acting at the Actors Studio in New York.
Brown started his acting journey in Shakespearean plays. He performed at the Guthrie Theater. Some of his early roles included parts in Hamlet and Richard III.
The Negro Ensemble Company
Graham Brown was one of the first members of The Negro Ensemble Company (NEC). This was a very important theatre group. He acted in many NEC plays. These included Malcochon, Ceremonies in Dark Old Men, District Line, and The River Niger.
He was also in the first cast of a well-known play called Song of the Lusitanian Bogey. This play toured around Europe. Graham Brown often played characters who were professionals, like doctors or religious leaders.
Notable Roles and Recognition
One of his most remembered roles was Jared Philibert. This character was a 50-year-old father in a Caribbean-American family. The play was called Nevis Mountain Dew by Steve Carter. Critics really liked this play.
Brown first played Jared Philibert in the NEC's Off-Broadway show. He played the role again when the play opened on the West Coast. For this performance, he won a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award. This award recognized his excellent acting.
Graham Brown passed away on December 13, 2011. He died from lung problems at a nursing home for actors.
