About Graham Salisbury
Graham Salisbury was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He spent his childhood growing up in Hawaii, living in a town called Kailua, Oahu. Later, he went to school at Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Kamuela, Hawaii.
Early Life and Music
In the late 1960s, Salisbury was a musician. He worked closely with a music producer named Curt Boettcher. Salisbury was a member of Boettcher's bands, including the Millennium and the Ballroom. The Ballroom's album from 1966 was not released until 2001.
As a singer and musician who worked for different recording sessions, he helped create hit songs for many popular bands. These included the Association, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and Tommy Roe.
On the Millennium's only album, Begin, Salisbury played guitar and sang. He also wrote one of the songs, "5 A.M." Even though the album and some singles were released, the album was very expensive to make. This might have made CBS Records less interested in the project. The album did not sell many copies at first and was forgotten for many years. However, it was later rediscovered by fans of "Sunshine Pop" music and became a very popular classic.
After the Millennium band ended, Salisbury started a solo music career. Boettcher continued to produce his music for Gary Usher's Together Records.
In 1975 and 1976, Sandy Salisbury studied Montessori Elementary education in Bergamo, Italy. He learned about a special way of teaching children. He also spoke Italian with his friends there. After his studies, he returned to Utah and got married.
In the early 2000s, collections of his music started to be released. This included his solo album from the late 1960s. Salisbury has also started making music again sometimes, using the name "Little Johnny Coconut."
Becoming a Writer
Before he became a children's author, Graham Salisbury worked several different jobs. He writes his books under his real name.
In 2014, a movie was made based on his historical novel Under the Blood Red Sun.
Today, Graham Salisbury lives with his family in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
