Growing Up and Learning
Jacqueline Rogers grew up in Westport, Connecticut. She was the youngest of six children. Her family was full of artists, so art was always around her!
She went to the Rhode Island School of Design. At first, she studied painting. But then she found her passion in illustration. She learned how to draw pictures for books.
Later, she saw that art was changing. Computers became important for artists. So, she learned computer programs like PhotoShop and Illustrator. She studied these at Berkshire Community College. This helped her create art in new ways.
Her Artistic Career
Jacqueline Rogers has been an illustrator for over 35 years. She has drawn pictures for more than 150 books! She creates both book covers and the art inside the books.
To get ideas for her characters, she sometimes uses old photos. She looks at pictures of her own children when they were younger. She even imagines them in different outfits!
Rogers also uses her art skills for digital projects. She helped create "book apps." One famous app is The Unwanted Guest (2011). People said its pictures were "truly amazing." The art in the app seemed to move around you! It used mostly gray colors with small touches of bright color. Each time you used the app, it showed different views and sounds. This made every experience unique.
Today, Jacqueline still illustrates books for other writers. But in her free time, she paints with oil. She also writes her own children's books. She lives in Spencertown, New York.
