Early Life and Learning
Jacqueline Rogers grew up in Westport, Connecticut. She was the youngest of six children in a family where everyone loved art. She went to the Rhode Island School of Design. There, she first studied painting, but then she decided to focus on illustration.
Later, Jacqueline saw that the way people made illustrations was changing. She learned how to use computer programs like PhotoShop and Illustrator. She studied these at the Berkshire Community College.
Her Career as an Illustrator
Jacqueline Rogers has been an illustrator for over 35 years. She has created pictures and covers for more than 150 books! When she needs ideas for characters, she often looks at old photos of her own children. She imagines them in different clothes to get inspiration.
Jacqueline has also used her drawing skills to create special book apps. One of these was The Unwanted Guest, released in 2011. People who reviewed it said it was an amazing story app. They loved how the pictures seemed to move around them. The app mostly used black and white colors with just a little bit of other colors. Each time you used the app, it showed different views, sounds, and animations. This made every experience unique!
Today, Jacqueline still draws for other authors' books. But in her free time, she also paints with oil. She is also writing her own children's books. She lives in Spencertown, New York.
