Grainola is a small town in northwest Osage County, Oklahoma, in the United States. In 2020, only 31 people lived there. This number has stayed the same since 2000. The main job in the area is raising cattle. The town got its unique name in March 1910.

A Look Back: Grainola's History
Grainola was first called Salt Creek. This name came from a nearby stream that flows into the Arkansas River. The Salt Creek post office opened in November 1906. The town itself was officially set up in 1909.
Its name changed to Grainola in March 1910. The town helped local farmers and cattle ranchers. However, its population has gotten much smaller since 1920. Back then, about 500 people lived in Grainola.
Where is Grainola?
Grainola is located about 11 miles (18 km) north of Shidler. Shidler is the closest town with a post office. Grainola is also about 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Pawhuska.
The United States Census Bureau says the town covers a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.62 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
