Grandchamp-le-Château (pronounced "Grahn-shahn luh Shah-toh") was once a small town in northwestern France. It was located in the Calvados area, which is part of the Normandy region.
A "commune" is like a small local government area or a town. A "department" is a larger area, similar to a county. A "region" is an even bigger area, like a state or province.
On January 1, 2017, Grandchamp-le-Château joined with other nearby towns. They all became part of a new, larger commune called Mézidon Vallée d'Auge. This means it is no longer a separate commune on its own.
