Green Oak Village Place is a large outdoor shopping area located in Green Oak Township, Michigan. It serves the nearby town of Brighton, Michigan, in the United States. This shopping center is known as a "lifestyle center." This means it's an open-air place with many different stores, restaurants, and places to relax.
The center opened in different stages between 2006 and 2008. It has six main "anchor stores." These are big, well-known stores that attract many shoppers. Some of these anchors include Barnes & Noble, Dick's Sporting Goods, DSW Shoe Warehouse, HomeGoods, and JCPenney. There are also more than forty other smaller shops. REDICO manages Green Oak Village Place.

How Green Oak Village Place Started
Before Green Oak Village Place was built, the main shopping spot in Brighton was the Brighton Mall. That mall had about 20 stores. It was later taken down in 1996. New, larger stores, like Marshalls and Best Buy, were built in its place.
Planning the New Shopping Center
Many new homes were built in the area around Brighton. Also, more cars started using US-23 and Interstate 96. Because of this, plans were made in 2004 for a new shopping center. This new center would be called Green Oak Village Place. It was planned for a spot where US-23 and Lee Road meet.
A smaller shopping area was already there. It had stores like Costco and Kohl's. In December 2004, the plan for Green Oak Village Place got its first approval. The companies Lormax Stern, REDICO, and Quadrants, Inc. worked together to develop it.
Building Begins
Construction on Green Oak Village Place started in June 2005. This was even earlier than planned! At the same time, the Lee Road exit on US-23 was rebuilt. It was changed to include three roundabouts. Roundabouts are circular intersections that help traffic flow smoothly.
First Stores Open
The first stores at Green Oak Village Place opened in mid-2006. These included three of the main anchor stores: DSW Shoe Warehouse, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Old Navy. Barnes & Noble opened as another anchor store on October 25, 2006. The whole mall had its grand opening on October 27. Many of the smaller shops also started opening in October.
More Stores Join In
In March 2007, a large JCPenney department store opened. This added another major anchor to the center. Then, in September 2008, HomeGoods opened its doors. This became the sixth anchor store. Later, in 2016, TJ Maxx also opened at Green Oak Village Place. In 2020, Pier 1 Imports closed its store there.
