Water Supply Challenges

Green Valley faces challenges with its water supply. A 2007 report showed that a lot of water is pumped from underground. Most of this water (85%) is used by mines and farms. The rest is used for golf courses and homes.

The report warned that the water levels underground were dropping. It said that the water supply might become "critical" within ten years. To help with this, pipelines have been built to bring water from the Central Arizona Project (CAP) canal. This project aims to reduce how much underground water is used.

Many different water companies and users operate in the area. They are working together to find solutions for a sustainable water supply. This includes bringing water from the Colorado River to the area.
