Greenville is a charming village in the town of Smithfield. It is located in Providence County, Rhode Island. In 2020, about 9,061 people lived here. Greenville is also known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the U.S. Census Bureau defines for collecting population data.
The village of Greenville gets its name from Nathanael Greene. He was a famous general during the American Revolutionary War. He was born in Rhode Island in 1742. People first settled in this area way back in the 1600s. Today, Greenville has a Baptist church, a public library, and the William Winsor School. You can also find many apple orchards nearby. A main road, U.S. Route 44, also known as "Putnam Pike," goes right through the center of Greenville.

Mountaindale is famous for Mountaindale Beach. Long ago, it was home to the Mountain Dale Hosiery Mill. This mill was owned by J.P. and J.G. Ray.
Greenville's Climate
