Gregory Ruffin is an American college football coach. He has coached many different teams throughout his career. He was the head football coach at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2002. He also led teams at Paine College in Augusta, Georgia in 2014 and Texas College in Tyler, Texas in 2016. From 2018 to 2021, he was the head coach at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida.
After his time at Edward Waters, Coach Ruffin became the Head Football Coach at Blytheville High School in Arkansas in June 2021. He coached the Blytheville Chickasaws for the 2021 season. His record there was 2 wins and 8 losses. He left Blytheville High School in December 2021. Later, he accepted a position to coach the running backs for the Alabama State Hornets.

Coach Ruffin's Football Journey
Greg Ruffin has had a long and interesting career in football. He started as a player before becoming a coach. He played as a quarterback and fullback for Lane from 1993 to 1995.
Early Coaching Roles
Coach Ruffin began his coaching career in 1996. His first job was coaching running backs at Jackson Central-Merry High School in Tennessee. He then moved to Kemper Military School in Missouri, also coaching running backs. From 1999 to 2000, he was an offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at Lincoln (MO). He continued as an offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Benedict in 2001.
Leading College Teams
In 2002, Coach Ruffin got his first head coaching job at Shaw University. He led the Shaw Bears to a strong 7-3 record that season. After Shaw, he held various assistant coaching roles. He coached running backs at Tuskegee and Jackson State. He also coached tight ends at Texas Southern and Bethune–Cookman.
He returned to head coaching at Paine College in 2014. His team had a record of 2 wins and 8 losses. In 2016, he became the head coach at Texas College, where his team finished with 0 wins and 9 losses.
Edward Waters and Beyond
From 2018 to 2020, Coach Ruffin was the head coach for the Edward Waters Tigers. During his time there, the team had an overall record of 5 wins and 18 losses.
