Grovetown is a small town in the Marlborough area of New Zealand. It is located on the South Island. State Highway 1 passes by Grovetown to the west. The Wairau River flows nearby to the northeast.
Grovetown is close to other towns. Spring Creek is about 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) to the north. Blenheim is about 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles) to the south. To the east, you'll find Grovetown Lagoon. This lagoon is an oxbow loop, which is a U-shaped lake formed when a wide meander (or bend) of a river is cut off from the main river.
In 2018, about 357 people lived in Grovetown. It is also home to Tua Mātene Marae. A marae is a special meeting ground for Māori people. This marae belongs to the Rangitāne o Wairau iwi (tribe). It includes Te Huataki wharenui, which is a traditional meeting house.
