Guacio is a small community, or barrio, located in the municipality of San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 640 people lived here. It's a quiet place that is part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.

History of Guacio

After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.

In 1899, the United States government conducted a census of Puerto Rico. A census is like a big count of all the people living in an area. They found that 562 people lived in Guacio barrio at that time.

What are Sectors?

In Puerto Rico, larger areas called barrios are often divided into smaller parts. These smaller parts are known as sectores, which means 'sectors' in English. Think of a barrio as a neighborhood, and sectors as smaller blocks or areas within that neighborhood.

The types of sectores can be different. Some are simply called sector, while others might be named urbanización, reparto, barriada, or residencial. Each name describes a slightly different type of community or housing area.
