Carl Eugene Lilly Jr. (born March 11, 1983), known by his stage name Gudda Gudda, is an American rapper. He comes from New Orleans, Louisiana. He became well-known for his part in the 2009 song "BedRock" by Young Money Entertainment. This song was very popular, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart.

Before his solo career, Gudda Gudda was part of a group called Sqad Up. He was in this group with Kidd Kidd and Lil Wayne. After becoming good friends with Lil Wayne, Gudda Gudda joined Wayne's record label, Young Money Entertainment. He later also signed with Republic Records.

Early Life and Start in Music

Gudda Gudda, whose real name is Carl Lilly, was born on March 11, 1983, in San Jose, California. When he was a child, his family moved to New Orleans. He grew up in the 9th Ward area of the city. There, he met and became friends with Lil Wayne during a game.

At that time, Gudda Gudda had not thought about becoming a rapper. As Lil Wayne started rapping, he helped Gudda Gudda learn. Lil Wayne even wrote Gudda's first song. Together, they formed a music group called Sqad Up with other rappers, Dizzy and Kidd Kidd. In 2002 and 2003, Gudda Gudda was featured on seven mixtapes released by Sqad Up.

Joining Young Money and Releasing Music

In 2005, Lil Wayne officially started his record label, Young Money Entertainment. Gudda Gudda was one of the first artists to sign with this new label. He also signed deals with Cash Money Records and Republic Records.

On May 26, 2009, Gudda Gudda released an album called Certified. This was a team-up album with another rapper named Lil Flip. People generally liked the album.

Later that year, on September 28, 2009, Gudda Gudda released his first solo mixtape, Guddaville. A mixtape is like an album but often released for free. This mixtape featured many famous artists like Lil Wayne, Drake, Tyga, Nicki Minaj, and others. Gudda Gudda told MTV that Guddaville was his way of sharing his feelings and showing people his world.

Gudda Gudda was also featured on many popular songs. He appeared on Birdman's album Pricele$$. He was also a big part of the Young Money group album We Are Young Money. On this album, he was on eight songs, including the hit singles "Every Girl" and "BedRock." Both of these songs were very successful, reaching the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He also appeared on Lil Wayne's album I Am Not a Human Being.

On June 7, 2010, Gudda Gudda released his second mixtape, Back 2 Guddaville. This mixtape also featured many guest artists. For the next two years, Gudda Gudda continued to record music. On November 7, 2012, he released his third mixtape, Guddaville 3. This mixtape included songs with artists like Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, and Lil Wayne. Around this time, he also formed a group called Loyalty Amongst Thieves.

Recent Projects and Collaborations

On March 11, 2013, Gudda Gudda released his fourth mixtape, Redrum. This mixtape had songs that did not make it onto Guddaville 3. After Redrum, Gudda Gudda announced that he was working on his first official studio album, which was planned to be called Guddaville: The Album. He also mentioned that he would release another mixtape, Guddaville 4, before the album. He also started his own production company called Gudda Music.

Gudda Gudda's rap verse on Lil Wayne's song "Gunwalk" from the album I Am Not a Human Being II was highly praised by Billboard. He was also featured on The H, a mixtape by Rick Ross and Birdman. In 2013, he appeared on two songs from the YMCMB album Rich Gang.

On March 11, 2014, Young Money released their second group album, Young Money: Rise of an Empire. Gudda Gudda was featured on two songs from this album. The mixtape L.A.T (Loyalty Amongst Thieves) was released in July 2014.

Personal Life

As of early 2013, Gudda Gudda lived in Houston, Texas, and also spent time at the Cash Money Records headquarters in Miami, Florida. He has said that he spends most of his time in the music studio. The rest of his time is spent with his children.
