The Story of Gulf City
How Gulf City Started
Gulf City has a really interesting past! It was founded a long time ago, in the mid-1600s. A British pirate named Ben Margoza is said to have started the community. Imagine a pirate helping to create a settlement!
A Quiet Time
After its early days, Gulf City became much quieter. In the 1800s, it started to decline, meaning fewer people lived there. By 1895, records show that only 76 people called Gulf City home. It also had a small post office to handle mail for the residents.
Gulf City Today
Even though it was once a small community, the original site of Gulf City is now part of modern life. Today, you'll find several new housing developments built where the old town used to be. It's a place where history meets new homes.
