Högsby Municipality (which is called Högsby kommun in Swedish) is a special area in Kalmar County, located in south-eastern Sweden. It's like a local government area. The main town and where the local government is based is called Högsby.
In 1969, a smaller area called Fagerhult joined Högsby. This was part of a bigger change in Sweden where many smaller areas combined to form larger municipalities.
Högsby Municipality has the smallest number of people living in it compared to other municipalities in Kalmar County. Even though it was officially created in 1971, the area has been home to people for a very long time.
