Hörby is a town in Skåne County, Sweden. It is the main town of Hörby Municipality. In 2019, about 15,631 people lived there.
Just 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) south-east of Hörby, there's a special radio and TV transmitter. It has been there since at least 1959. Some of its older shortwave antennas were taken down in 2011.
Hörby's Climate
Hörby has a climate that is a mix of ocean and land weather. This means it has moderate changes between seasons. This is typical for places inland in the Nordic countries.
Weather Patterns
The weather station in Hörby started recording in 1995. Because of this, we don't have very old cold records. However, a nearby town called Stehag recorded a very cold temperature of -23°C (-9°F) in February 1979.
In January, the average temperature in Hörby is just below freezing. This makes it the southernmost place in Sweden to have a "meteorological winter." A meteorological winter means the average temperature stays below 0°C (32°F).
Hörby is located inland and is a bit higher up. This means it gets more rain and snow than many other areas nearby. Heavy snow can sometimes fall in winter. Also, because it's often cloudy in summer, Hörby is usually milder than lower areas around Öresund and Österlen during the warm months.
The table below shows detailed weather information for Hörby. It includes average temperatures, rainfall, and snow depth.
