Early Years and AC Milan

Hachim Mastour was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy. His parents are from Morocco. He started playing football at his local club, AC Reggiana. In 2012, when he was 13, he played in youth tournaments for Inter Milan. This was even though rules usually stopped him from leaving Reggiana.

In January 2012, he scored five goals in a tournament. One of these goals was in the final against A.S. Roma. Big clubs like Juventus, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester City were interested in him. But Mastour decided to join AC Milan. This move happened because former manager Arrigo Sacchi suggested it. AC Milan paid €500,000 for him.

Playing for AC Milan's First Team

In 2014, AC Milan's manager, Clarence Seedorf, brought Mastour into the first team. This was for the last game of the 2013–14 Serie A season. If he had played, he would have been the youngest Milan player in the league. However, he did not get to play in the match against Sassuolo.

Loan to Malaga in Spain

On August 31, 2015, Mastour went on loan to Málaga CF in Spain. This loan was for two seasons. The club owner, Abdullah al-Thani, specifically asked for him. Because he was still a minor, FIFA had to approve his move to another country. This approval came on November 5.

He was first part of the team for a La Liga game on November 7. He made his first appearance in that game. He played for five minutes as a substitute in a 0–1 loss. On July 7, 2016, Málaga ended his loan early. He had only played one game that season. So, he went back to AC Milan.

Loan to Zwolle in the Netherlands

On July 14, 2016, Mastour joined the Dutch club PEC Zwolle. This was a loan for one season. He played his first Eredivisie game on August 13. He came on as a substitute in a 0–3 loss. After his loan ended, he returned to Milan. He still had one year left on his contract there.

Playing in Greece and Italy Again

Playing Style and Skills

Mastour is known as a "fantasista" in Italian football. This means he is a creative player. He is quick, agile, and very skillful. He has excellent technique and can understand the game well. He mostly plays as an attacking midfielder. But he can also play as a second striker or a winger. He is naturally right-footed but can use both feet well.

When he was 14, Mastour said his best skills were his ball control and dribbling. Experts have said he is very hard to mark because of his great dribbling and technique. He can control the ball while running fast. He also has a good shot with both feet and can change his speed quickly.

Some people compared Mastour to famous players like Wesley Sneijder, Ronaldinho, and Neymar. This was because of his ability to create plays and do amazing tricks with the ball. His former youth coach praised his speed and ability to keep the ball from defenders. He was seen as a very promising young player. In 2015, The Guardian newspaper named him one of the 50 best young players born in 1998.
