Hadise Açıkgöz (born October 21, 1985) is a famous singer, songwriter, dancer, and TV personality. She was born and grew up in Belgium. Her family has roots in the Lezgin and Kumyk people from Sivas, Turkey.

In 2003, Hadise took part in a Belgian singing show called Idool 2003. She became well-known after releasing her first album, Sweat, in 2005. This album had five hit songs and helped her win awards in Belgium and Turkey. Hadise continued to have a successful career in both countries. Her self-titled album, Hadise (2008), featured songs in English and Turkish. The song "Deli Oğlan" from this album became a number-one hit in Turkey.

In 2009, Hadise represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Düm Tek Tek". She finished fourth in the competition. "Düm Tek Tek" became her first number-one song in Belgium. After this, she released more albums like Fast Life (2009) and Kahraman (2009). The song "Evlenmeliyiz" from Kahraman was also a top-ten hit in Turkey. Since then, she has mostly focused on her music career in Turkey. She released albums such as Aşk Kaç Beden Giyer? (2011), Tavsiye (2014), and Şampiyon (2017).

Besides singing, Hadise has also hosted TV shows. She presented the Belgian version of The X Factor. Since 2011, she has been a judge on O Ses Türkiye, which is the Turkish version of The Voice.

Early Life and First Steps

Hadise Açıkgöz was born in Mol, Belgium, on October 21, 1985. Her parents moved to Belgium from Sivas, Turkey. Her mother is Kumyk, and her father is Lezgin. She grew up with her three siblings: an older sister, Hülya, a younger sister, Derya, and a younger brother, Murat. Her parents divorced when she was 11 years old.

When Hadise was 18, her family supported her to join the first season of Idool. This was the Flemish version of the Pop Idol TV series. She didn't make it to the finals, but her performance caught the eye of Johan Hendrickx. He became her manager and offered her a music contract.

Early Success: Sweat and Hadise

After signing with 2 Brain records, Hadise released her first song, "Sweat", in November 2004. This song reached number 19 on the Belgian music charts. Later, she released "Stir Me Up", which became very popular in Belgium and especially in Turkey. Her song "Milk Chocolate Girl" was the biggest hit from her first album, reaching number 13.

In November 2005, her first album, Sweat, came out. Hadise wrote about half of the songs herself. The album also included singles like "Ain't No Love Lost" and "Bad Boy".

Hadise started working on her second album in December 2007. She recorded it in several countries, including Belgium, France, Turkey, and Italy. The first song from this album was "A Good Kiss", released in September 2007. This song was also a hit in Turkey, becoming her first song to chart on the Turkish Billboard Chart. Later, the song was translated into Turkish as "Deli Oğlan". This version became one of the most played songs in clubs in the summer of 2008.

Hadise released two more songs in Belgium: "My Body" and "My Man and the Devil on His Shoulder". "My Body" became very popular in Balkan countries too. Her album, Hadise, was released in June 2008. It was her most successful album so far, entering the Belgium Album chart at number 19. She helped write ten of the songs on this album.

In June 2008, Hadise sang on a song called "Düşman" for Serdar Ortaç's album Nefes. In August 2008, she was nominated for Best Turkish Act at the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards.

Eurovision and New Albums

In 2008, Hadise decided she wanted to represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest. She had been asked to represent Belgium twice before but had said no. She felt that Eurovision was more popular in Turkey and that she had already won many awards in Belgium. On October 24, 2008, it was announced that Hadise would represent Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.

Hadise had full control over her song choice. On December 31, 2008, she performed "Düm Tek Tek" for the first time on Turkish TV. The song was written by Stefan Fernande and produced by Sinan Akçıl. To promote the song, she traveled to many countries. On May 16, 2009, Hadise performed "Düm Tek Tek" in Moscow, Russia. She received 177 points, placing Turkey in fourth place.

Hadise then started working on her third album, Fast Life. It was released on May 15, 2009, just before the Eurovision final. This album had only English songs, including "Düm Tek Tek". "Düm Tek Tek" became her first number-one song in Belgium. The album also reached number one on music lists in Indonesia. She then released the song "Fast Life", which was about her busy life during Eurovision. This song won an award for Best Turkish Song at the Balkan Music Awards.

Just over a month after Fast Life, Hadise released her first Turkish album, Kahraman, on June 19, 2009. She worked with producer Sinan Akçıl again. Hadise said this album was very personal to her. It also included "Düm Tek Tek" and two other songs she considered for Eurovision. The song "Evlenmeliyiz" (meaning "We Should Get Married") was the first single from the album. It reached the top 40 in Turkey. A music video for "Kahraman" was also released. By the end of 2009, Hadise was named the most popular celebrity of the year.

Later Albums: Aşk Kaç Beden Giyer?, Tavsiye, and Şampiyon

After a successful tour, Hadise began working on her second Turkish album, Aşk Kaç Beden Giyer?. It was released on April 11, 2011, and quickly sold over 35,000 copies in Turkey. The first song, "Superman", became very popular and was the eighth most-downloaded song of the year. Two more songs, "Aşk Kaç Beden Giyer?" and "Mesajımı Almıştır O", also had music videos.

On June 11, 2012, Hadise released a song called "Biz Burdayız". She also released another song called "Visal", which was in the dubstep style.

In January 2014, Hadise announced that her older sister, Hülya Açıkgöz, would direct her future music videos. Her sixth album, Tavsiye (meaning "Advice"), was released in August 2014. Hadise said the album's songs contained advice for women. The first song from the album was "Nerdesin Aşkım". The music video was directed by her sister. The second song was "Prenses", also directed by Hülya Açıkgöz. Music videos for "Yaz Günü" and "Bu Aralar" were released later. "Nerdesin Aşkım?" and "Bu Aralar" both became number-one hits in Turkey.

Hadise's seventh album, Şampiyon (meaning "Champion"), came out in June 2017. The main song, also called "Şampiyon", quickly became popular. Another song, "Sıfır Tolerans", reached the top spot on the Turkish music chart. Two more music videos were released for "Farkımız Var" and "Aşk Dediğin".

In 2019, Hadise became the face of Fanta commercials in Turkey. She released a song called "Geliyorum Yanına" in August 2019, which was written by Gülşen. The music video was shown at her concert on August 10, 2019.

In September 2020, her new song "Küçük Bir Yol" was released. In February 2021, she released her second EP (a shorter album) called Aşka Kapandım. The main song, "Olsun", was written by Yıldız Tilbe. In June 2021, Hadise released the song "Hay Hay", written by Ersay Üner. The music video for "Hay Hay" was inspired by a famous historical event.

Television Career

In 2006, Hadise hosted Popstar Türkiye, which was the Turkish version of Popstars. This was her first time hosting a TV show in Turkey. From 2008 to 2009, she also hosted the second season of the Belgian X Factor on VTM. She was praised for her hosting skills. Since 2011, Hadise has been a judge on the singing competition show O Ses Türkiye (the Turkish version of The Voice).

Products and Endorsements

In 2009, Hadise signed a deal with Yedigün, a Turkish soda company. This deal included her appearing in TV commercials and on billboards, and taking part in a summer tour.

In October 2021, Hadise launched her own clothing brand called Kert. Her products were sold online.

Helping Others

In September 2009, Hadise supported the "Schools without Bullying" campaign in Belgium. She shared that she was bullied as a child because of her clothes and her background. She wanted to be part of the project because she cared about children and understood how important it was to stop bullying.

Acting

Hadise has been offered roles in two films but turned them down. One offer was for a main role in a Turkish movie about two sisters. In July 2008, she was offered another role in a Turkish comedy film.

Personal Life

Hadise married businessman Mehmet Dinçerler on April 30, 2022. They divorced on September 30, 2022.
