Hajime Hosogai (細貝 萌, Hosogai Hajime, born 10 June 1986) is a Japanese professional footballer. He plays for Thespa Gunma. Hajime is a flexible player. He can play as a full-back or a defensive midfielder. He played 30 games for the Japan national team and scored one goal.

Hajime Hosogai's Club Career
Hajime Hosogai was a talented player for Urawa Red Diamonds. He helped his team win the AFC Champions League in 2007. This is a big football competition in Asia. He also played for Urawa at the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup. This tournament brings together the best club teams from around the world.
Playing in Germany
On December 23, 2010, Hajime moved from Japan to Germany. He joined the German club Bayer 04 Leverkusen. They quickly loaned him to FC Augsburg. On September 9, 2011, he scored his first goal in the Bundesliga. The Bundesliga is Germany's top football league. Playing for FC Augsburg, he helped them stay in the league. After that, he returned to Bayer Leverkusen for the 2012–13 season.
Moving to Other Clubs
On July 25, 2016, Hosogai joined VfB Stuttgart. Later, on March 24, 2017, he moved back to Japan to play for Kashiwa Reysol.
On December 6, 2018, it was announced that Hajime would join Buriram United in Thailand. He played for them in the 2019 season. On December 12, 2019, he went on loan to Bangkok United for a season. In October 2024, Hajime Hosogai announced that he would retire from football at the end of the season.
Hajime Hosogai's International Career
Hajime Hosogai has played for Japan at different youth levels. He was part of the Japan team for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
He played his first game for the senior Japan national team on September 4, 2010. This was a 1–0 win against Paraguay. He played in his usual position as a central midfielder. This game was at his home stadium in Saitama.
Hajime scored his first goal for the national team on January 25, 2011. This was during the semi-final match of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup against South Korea.
