Hallett is a small town located in Pawnee County, Oklahoma, in the United States. It is about 19 miles (30.6 km) southeast of Pawnee, which is the main town of Pawnee County. Hallett is found along State Highway 99, just north of U.S. Highway 412. In 2020, the town had a population of 105 people.

The Story of Hallett: A Look at Its Past
Hallett officially began on December 8, 1904. It was started where two important railways met: the Arkansas Valley and Western Railway and the Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad. These railways later became parts of the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway and the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway.
The company that developed the town was called Hallett Townsite Company. They named the town after Charles H. Hallett, who was an officer in the Nineteenth Kansas Cavalry.
Early Days and Growth in Hallett
A post office opened in Hallett on May 19, 1905, helping the town grow. Soon after, the first local newspaper, the Hallett Herald, started publishing each week. This newspaper shared local news and stories.
Hallett became a central place for local farmers to trade their goods. When oil was discovered nearby in the Hallett oil field, the town experienced a quick growth period in 1908. Another boom happened in the 1920s.
Population Changes and a Tragic Event
The town's population reached its highest point in 1920, with 279 residents. After that, the number of people living in Hallett slowly went down. By 1950, the population was 120.
A tragic explosion at an Aerlex Fireworks plant occurred in Hallett on June 25, 1985. This event was a very sad moment in the town's history.
