Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (born 5 September 2001) is a professional rugby league player. He is often called "Hammer" because of his speed and power. He plays as a fullback for the Dolphins in the National Rugby League (NRL).
Hamiso can also play as a centre or a winger. He has played for the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL. He has also represented Queensland in the famous State of Origin series. On the international stage, he has played for both Samoa and Australia.

About Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow
Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow grew up in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. His mother is an Indigenous Australian Torres Strait Islander, and his father is Samoan. He started playing junior rugby league for the Cairns Kangaroos.
He also played Australian rules football when he was younger. He was very good at it and even considered joining the Gold Coast Suns Academy. However, he decided to focus on rugby.
Hamiso accepted a scholarship to play rugby union for Brisbane Grammar School. He was even part of the Queensland Reds rugby union development squad. But in 2017, the North Queensland Cowboys rugby league club signed him. He then moved to Townsville in 2018 to finish school.
Hamiso's Playing Journey
Early Steps in Rugby League (2018-2019)
In 2018, Hamiso played for the Northern Pride's Mal Meninga Cup team. He scored five tries in seven games, showing his talent early on.
The next year, in 2019, he moved to Townsville. He joined the North Queensland under-20 squad. He played for the Townsville Blackhawks Mal Meninga Cup team, scoring an amazing thirteen tries in just six games!
After this, he played as a fullback for the Queensland under-18 team. They won their game against New South Wales. He then moved up to the Blackhawks' Hastings Deering Colts team, scoring eight tries in five games. In September 2019, he played for the Australian Schoolboys and scored two tries.
Playing for the North Queensland Cowboys (2020-2022)
In 2020, Hamiso joined the North Queensland Cowboys NRL team. He was part of the team that won the 2020 NRL Nines tournament. He was one of the top try scorers in that competition.
He made his NRL debut in Round 5 of the 2020 NRL season. He helped set up two tries in his first game. In Round 7, he scored his first NRL try. In his first season, he played 14 games and scored six tries. The Cowboys named him their Rookie of the Year.
In 2021, Hamiso was chosen to play for Queensland in Game 3 of the 2021 State of Origin series. Queensland won that game 20-18. Later that year, he had to take six weeks off after having surgery for his appendix.
In 2022, he scored two tries in a big win against the Gold Coast. He played 23 games for the Cowboys that year and scored seven tries. He also played in their finals games. In October 2022, he signed a two-year deal to join the brand new Dolphins team for 2023.
Before joining the Dolphins, Hamiso was also part of the Samoa squad for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. He played one game for Samoa in England.
Joining the Dolphins (2023-Present)
In Round 1 of the 2023 NRL season, Hamiso made history. He scored the very first try for the Dolphins in their first-ever NRL game! The next week, he scored two more tries as the Dolphins won again.
In Round 6, he scored two tries against his old team, the North Queensland Cowboys. He became only the second player in Australian Rugby League history to score a try in each of his team's first six games of their first season.
The Dolphins were so impressed that they extended his contract until at least the end of the 2027 season. He continued to score tries for the Dolphins throughout the 2023 season.
In May 2023, Hamiso was chosen to play for Queensland as a centre in Game 1 of the 2023 State of Origin series. He scored two tries in that game, helping Queensland beat New South Wales 26–18.
Hamiso holds many "first try scorer" records for the Dolphins. He was the first Dolphin to score in an NRL game. He was also the first to score at their home stadiums, Suncorp Stadium and Kayo Stadium. Plus, he was the first Dolphin to score in a representative game (State of Origin).
In October 2023, Hamiso was selected to play for Australia in the Pacific Championships. In 2024, he missed some games due to a hamstring injury. However, he was still named in the centres for Queensland in Game 1 of the 2024 State of Origin series. In that game, he scored a hat-trick (three tries in one game)! Queensland won 38-10. He played 16 games for the Dolphins in the 2024 NRL season and scored 15 tries.

Personal Life
Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow is well-known for his special try celebration. He often does a shark gesture, which is linked to his family's totem.
