Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (born 5 September 2001) is a super fast professional rugby league player. People often call him "Hammer" because of his speed! He plays as a fullback (fullback) for the Dolphins in the National Rugby League (NRL). He also plays as a centre (centre) for Queensland in the exciting State of Origin games.
Before joining the Dolphins, Hamiso played for the North Queensland Cowboys. He has also played for his country, representing Samoa and Australia. He has even played for the Indigenous All Stars and the Prime Minister's XIII. Earlier in his career, he sometimes played as a wing (winger).

About Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow
Hamiso was born and grew up in Cairns, Queensland. His mother is an Indigenous Australian Torres Strait Islander, and his father is Samoan. When he was younger, he played junior rugby league for the Cairns Kangaroos.
He also played junior Australian rules football and was very good at it! He was even considered by the Gold Coast Suns Academy. Hamiso once said he looked up to famous AFL player Buddy Franklin. He was close to joining the Suns, but he chose rugby instead. He accepted a scholarship to play rugby union for Brisbane Grammar School.
While in Brisbane, Hamiso was part of the Queensland Reds rugby union development team. But in 2017, the North Queensland Cowboys rugby league club signed him. He then moved to Townsville in 2018 and finished school at Kirwan State High School.
Hamiso's Early Rugby League Journey
Starting Strong in Junior Teams
In 2018, Hamiso played for the Cairns-based Northern Pride's Mal Meninga Cup team. He scored five tries in seven games, showing off his talent early on.
In 2019, he moved to Townsville and joined the North Queensland under-20 squad. He played for the Townsville Blackhawks Mal Meninga Cup team. He was amazing, scoring thirteen tries in just six games! After this, he played fullback for the Queensland under-18 team. They won their game against New South Wales.
He then moved up to the Blackhawks' Hastings Deering Colts team. There, he scored eight tries in five games. In June 2019, he signed a new deal with the North Queensland Cowboys until the end of the 2022 season. Later that year, in September, he played centre for the Australian Schoolboys. He scored two tries in their win against the Junior Kiwis.
Playing in the NRL
North Queensland Cowboys (2020-2022)
In 2020, Hamiso joined the North Queensland Cowboys NRL team. He was part of the team that won the 2020 NRL Nines tournament. He was even one of the top try scorers in that competition!
In round 5 of the 2020 NRL season, Hamiso made his first NRL appearance against the New Zealand Warriors. He helped set up two tries in that game. In round 7, he scored his very first NRL try in a win against the Newcastle Knights. In his first year, Hamiso played 14 games and scored six tries. The Cowboys named him their Rookie of the Year.
In 2021, Hamiso was chosen to play for Queensland in Game 3 of the 2021 State of Origin series. Queensland won that game 20-18. Unfortunately, in July, he had to take six weeks off after having an emergency appendectomy.
In 2022, Hamiso continued to shine. In round 13 of the 2022 NRL season, he scored two tries for the Cowboys in a big win over the Gold Coast. He played 23 games that year and scored seven tries. He also played in the Cowboys' finals games. In October, he signed a two-year deal to join the new Dolphins team starting in 2023.
Later in 2022, Hamiso was selected for the Samoa squad for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. He played one game for Samoa in England.
Dolphins (2023-Present)
Hamiso made history in round 1 of the 2023 NRL season. He scored the very first try for the Dolphins in their NRL history! The next week, he scored two more tries as the Dolphins beat Canberra.
In round 6, Hamiso scored two tries against his old team, the North Queensland Cowboys. The Dolphins won 32–22. He became only the second player in Australian Rugby League history to score a try in each of his team's first six games in their first season!
The Dolphins were so impressed that they extended Hamiso's contract until the end of the 2027 season. He continued to score tries, including one against the Canberra Raiders and another against the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks.
In May 2023, Hamiso was chosen to play centre for Queensland in Game I of the 2023 State of Origin series. In that game, he scored two tries as Queensland defeated New South Wales 26–18.
Hamiso holds many "first try scorer" records for the Dolphins. He was the first Dolphin to score in an NRL game, the first to score at their home stadiums (Suncorp Stadium and Kayo Stadium), and the first to score in a representative game for the team.
In October 2023, Hamiso was selected to play for Australia in the 2023 Pacific Championships.
In 2024, Hamiso was named in the centres for Queensland for Game One of the 2024 State of Origin series. He scored an amazing hat-trick (three tries) in Queensland's 38-10 victory over New South Wales! He played 16 games for the Dolphins in the 2024 NRL season and scored 15 tries.
In round 6 of the 2025 NRL season, Hamiso scored another hat-trick for the Dolphins in their 30-12 win over Penrith. In round 17, he scored an incredible four tries in the Dolphins' 50-28 victory over South Sydney. In May 2025, Hamiso was again selected by Queensland for the 2025 State of Origin series, which Queensland won 2-1.
