Hampden is a small, unincorporated community located in Mingo County, West Virginia, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town would. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
Discovering Hampden
Hampden is situated in the scenic landscape of West Virginia. You can find it along U.S. Route 52, which is a major road. It's also near a stream called Horsepen Creek.
This community is about 4.8 kilometers (or 3 miles) west-northwest of a nearby town called Gilbert. For many years, Hampden even had its own post office, which helped people send and receive mail. The post office closed on November 2, 2002.
