Hamza Sultan Ali (born August 8, 1995 – died June 9, 2016) was a talented British Pakistani cricketer from England. He was also known as Hamza Shabbir. Hamza played for several teams, including Hampshire, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Young Cricketers, and Rawalpindi Rams. He was mainly a right-arm fast-medium bowler, which means he bowled the ball quickly. He also batted with his right hand. Hamza went to City Academy Bristol and Filton Sixth Form College.

Hamza Ali's Cricket Journey
Hamza Ali played cricket for many years. He started with the Stapleton Cricket Club in Bristol. His stepfather also played for this club. In 2016, he joined Downend Cricket Club. There, he was known as one of the fastest bowlers in the local leagues.
Playing for Different Teams
In 2015, Hamza played for Omar Associates in a tournament called the Patron's Trophy Grade II. He made his first List A match appearance in 2014/15. He played for Rawalpindi Rams against the National Bank of Pakistan. In that match, Hamza took 4 wickets for only 39 runs.
During the 2015 cricket season, Hamza played two matches for the Hampshire Second XI team. He made his first-class debut in April 2016. This was a special pre-season match for Hampshire against Cardiff MCCU. In this game, he took 2 wickets for 47 runs.
Hamza also played for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Young Cricketers. His last game for them was against the Sussex Second XI. In that match, Hamza scored 44 runs and took 4 wickets for 39 runs in the first part of the game.
Remembering Hamza Ali
On June 9, 2016, Hamza Ali sadly passed away at the age of 20. This happened after an accident in the River Avon near Saltford Lock, close to Bristol.
Tributes from the Cricket World
Many people in the cricket community shared their sadness and memories of Hamza. The Head of Player Development at Hampshire said that Hamza "was an incredibly committed and enthusiastic cricketer." He always gave his best for his team.
Steven Kirby, who was the head coach for the MCC Young Cricketers, also spoke highly of Hamza. He said that Hamza "greatly impressed us with his energy, enthusiasm and exceptional all-round talent."
To honor Hamza, the Hampshire team wore black armbands during their T20 Blast match on June 9, 2016. The players from Downend Cricket Club also wore black armbands in their match on June 11. At Stapleton Cricket Club, the flags were lowered to half-mast on June 9 as a sign of respect.
