Hamza Mendyl (born on October 21, 1997) is a professional footballer from Morocco. He plays as a left-back for the Greek club Aris Thessaloniki. Hamza also plays for the Morocco national team.

Hamza Mendyl's Football Journey
Hamza Mendyl started his football journey at a young age. He played for several youth teams before becoming a professional player.
Early Club Career
Hamza began his youth career in 2002 at Wydad AC in Morocco. He then moved to the Mohammed VI Football Academy in 2010. Later, he joined the French club Lille in 2016.
Playing for Lille
Mendyl made his first professional appearance for Lille on February 16, 2017. This was in a Ligue 1 match against Caen, which Lille won 1–0. He played for Lille's main team for two seasons.
Time at Schalke 04
On August 17, 2018, Hamza Mendyl moved to Germany. He signed a five-year contract with Schalke 04, a well-known club in the Bundesliga. During his time at Schalke, he also went on loan to other clubs. He played for Dijon in France during the 2019–2020 season. Later, he was loaned to Gaziantep in Turkey for the 2021–2022 season.
Moving to OH Leuven
After his time in Germany, Mendyl joined OH Leuven in Belgium. He played for this club from 2022 until early 2025. He was a regular player for OH Leuven, making many appearances.
Joining Aris Thessaloniki
On January 16, 2025, Hamza Mendyl signed a contract with Aris Thessaloniki. This club plays in the Super League Greece. His contract is set to last until June 30, 2026, with a chance to extend it for another year.
International Football
Hamza Mendyl was born in Casablanca, Morocco. His father is from Ivory Coast, and his mother is Moroccan. He chose to represent Morocco in international football.

Playing for Morocco's Senior Team
Mendyl made his debut for the senior Morocco national football team in 2016. This was in a 2–0 victory against São Tomé and Príncipe during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches.
In May 2018, Hamza was chosen to be part of Morocco's 23-player squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. This was a big achievement for him. He has played 20 matches for the Moroccan national team.

Personal Life
Hamza Mendyl married Maroua Ourahali, a Moroccan Instagram star, in late 2018. They went on their honeymoon to the Maldives. The couple has a son named Cayden, who was born on February 20, 2020. Hamza is also good friends with fellow footballer Amine Harit.
