Hancock's Population in 2010
In 2010, the census counted 417 people living in Hancock. These people lived in 186 different homes, and 107 of these were families. The village had about 390 people per square mile. There were also 251 housing units, which are places where people can live.
Most of the people in the village (94.2%) were White. A small number were African American (0.5%) or Asian (0.2%). About 4.1% were from other racial backgrounds, and 1.0% identified with two or more races. People of Hispanic or Latino background made up 11.0% of the population.
Out of the 186 homes, about 26.3% had children under 18 living there. Nearly half (43.0%) were married couples living together. Some homes (10.8%) had a female head of the household with no husband present. A smaller number (3.8%) had a male head of the household with no wife present. About 42.5% of homes were not families.
Many homes (33.9%) had just one person living there. About 17.3% of homes had someone living alone who was 65 years old or older. On average, each home had 2.24 people, and each family had 2.88 people.
The average age of people in the village was 45.2 years. About 20.6% of residents were under 18. About 8% were between 18 and 24 years old. People aged 25 to 44 made up 21.1% of the population. Those aged 45 to 64 were 30%, and 20.4% were 65 years or older. The village had slightly more females (51.1%) than males (48.9%).
