Hannah's Exciting Career
Sailing Adventures
Hannah first discovered sailing when she was 15 years old, thanks to a friend's family. Her very first Cowes Week sailing event was a bit tough. She felt like a beginner and was "always getting in the way." But this was just the start of her incredible sailing journey!
In 2009, Hannah took part in the solo trans-Atlantic race called the OSTAR. This was a huge race, covering 3,200 nautical miles from Plymouth, UK, to Newport, USA. She finished in an amazing second place, completing the race in 20 days and 22 minutes. She almost set a new world record for boats under 35 feet! Hannah also won a special media award for the OSTAR, chosen by the public.
Between 2005 and 2009, Hannah tried to cross the Atlantic Ocean by herself twice. In 2005, she was the youngest female sailor ever to compete in this challenge. One of her solo attempts was a big success!
In 2015, Hannah achieved a fantastic Guinness World Records title. She became the fastest person to cross the English Channel in a single-handed dinghy. She completed this impressive feat in just 3 hours, 44 minutes, and 39 seconds!
Broadcasting and TV
While Hannah was busy with her professional sailing career, she also started working in broadcasting. She often appeared on BBC local radio and ITV Meridian, talking about sailing and other sea-related events.
In 2010, Hannah joined the commentary team for the Olympic test event, Sail for Gold, in Weymouth. Then, in 2011, she became the main presenter for the World Match Racing Tour. This show was broadcast to over 180 countries around the world! The live coverage of the Monsoon Cup in Malaysia was even nominated for a National RTS Award for being the best live event.
At the end of 2011, Hannah became the Master of Ceremonies and Presenter for the Volvo Ocean Race. She would commentate on the races and host prize-giving ceremonies. She also presented the arrival and departure events to millions of people globally.
Hannah was also a co-presenter and commentator for the Sailing Venue in Weymouth during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Go Hard or Go Home TV Show
In January 2014, Hannah had her own TV show called Go Hard or Go Home. This show was made by Channel 5. In it, Hannah chose different people and trained them to take on tough athletic challenges. It was all about pushing limits and achieving goals!
