Hannibal Amir Buress (born February 4, 1983) is an American comedian, actor, and writer. He is known for his calm and observant style of comedy. He started doing stand-up comedy in 2002 while he was in college.
Many people know him from the TV show The Eric Andre Show, where he was the co-host from 2012 to 2020. He also played the popular character Lincoln Rice on the show Broad City from 2014 to 2019. In 2014, a part of his stand-up act about the comedian Bill Cosby went viral online. His routine brought public attention to serious accusations against Cosby.

Early Life and Education
Hannibal Amir Buress was born in Chicago, Illinois. His mother, Margaret, was a teacher, and his father, John, worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He grew up in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago.
His parents named him after the famous general Hannibal from ancient Carthage. In his comedy shows, he has joked that his name sometimes made people think of the fictional character Hannibal Lecter.
He went to Southern Illinois University for four years, where he became friends with the hip-hop artist Open Mike Eagle. It was during college that he first started performing comedy.
