Representing Different States
Initially, Bhardwaj represented the state of Madhya Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha. Later, on 20 March 2006, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Haryana. He was elected without any opposition, meaning no one ran against him for that seat.
Key Ideas and Contributions
Bhardwaj was known for introducing a new idea called rural courts, also known as gram nyayalayas. These courts were meant to help people in villages get justice more easily. However, this idea was later stopped by the government due to a lack of money.
He was a quiet minister who didn't often speak to the media. He was known for being very loyal to the Gandhi family, a famous political family in India. He handled many important and sometimes difficult cases during his time as a minister. He worked to solve these issues to the satisfaction of the Prime Minister and his political party leaders.
