Harmony is a special kind of community located near St. Cloud, Florida, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated master-planned community. This means it's a carefully designed town that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area. Harmony is also part of the OrlandoKissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a big region that includes Orlando and nearby cities.

According to information from 2010, more than 1,000 people live in Harmony.

What Makes Harmony Special?

Harmony is known for being a "Green-certified community." This certification comes from the Florida Green Building Coalition. It means that the community was built and operates in ways that are good for the environment. They try to use less energy, save water, and protect nature.

How Harmony Started

Plans for creating Harmony began way back in 1996. A special group called the Harmony Community Development District was officially set up in March 2000. This group helps manage the development and services in the community.

Harmony officially opened for people to move in around 2003. In 2005, the ownership of the community was transferred to a company called Starwood Capital Group.

Living with Nature

In 2001, Harmony started working closely with the University of Florida's Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. This partnership was created to show how people could live and work in the same community while also protecting local wildlife and nature. The goal was to prove that it's possible for humans and animals to share space in a way that is good for everyone.

Harmony's Unique Rules

The Harmony Residential Owners Association (ROA) was formed on October 8, 2002. This group helps manage the homes and common areas in Harmony. What makes the Harmony ROA special is that its founding rules include guidelines for how people can live peacefully with wild animals. This shows their strong commitment to protecting the environment and its creatures.
