Harri Heliövaara (born on June 4, 1989) is a professional tennis player from Finland. He is best known for his amazing skills in doubles tennis. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has ranked him as high as world No. 7 in doubles. He reached this top spot on June 12, 2023.

Harri has won eight doubles titles on the main ATP Tour. He is also a two-time major champion! He won the men's doubles title at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships with his partner Henry Patten. He also won the mixed doubles title at the 2023 US Open with Anna Danilina.

Before his big wins, Harri also won 20 ITF Futures tournaments in doubles. He won eight ITF Futures tournaments in singles too. In 2007, he won the 2007 Australian Open boys' doubles title with Graeme Dyce. Harri actually stopped playing professional tennis in 2013 but made an exciting comeback in 2017.

Harri's Life Off the Court

Harri Heliövaara was part of the ATP Player Advisory Council in 2024. This group helps make decisions for tennis players.

During his break from tennis between 2014 and 2017, Harri worked outside of the sport. He had an internship at a company called McKinsey & Company. He also worked an office job at Helsinki Airport. This is where he met his wife, Sini, who worked there full-time. Harri and Sini now have two children, a daughter and a son.

Harri still practices tennis at the SATA-Tennis Club in Helsinki. He also plays on their competitive team, which plays against other tennis clubs in Finland.

Harri's Tennis Journey

Harri Heliövaara has had an exciting career, especially in doubles. Let's look at some of his biggest achievements.

First Big Wins in 2021

In 2021, Harri teamed up with Lloyd Glasspool. They won their first ATP Tour title in March at the 2021 Open 13 in France. They beat Sander Arends and David Pel from the Netherlands. Later that year, in October, Harri won his second title. This time, he partnered with Matwé Middelkoop from the Netherlands at the 2021 Kremlin Cup.

Reaching New Heights in 2022

The year 2022 was a big one for Harri. He and Lloyd Glasspool reached two more ATP 250 finals. These were at the 2022 Open Sud de France and the 2022 Dallas Open. Harri entered the top 50 in doubles on February 28, 2022.

In May 2022, they played in their first Masters 1000 tournament, the 2022 Italian Open (tennis). They reached the quarterfinals, which was a huge step. They even beat the top-ranked team, Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram!

At the 2022 French Open, Harri reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time. This helped him move into the top 40, reaching world No. 39 in June 2022. They continued their success by reaching their first final on grass at the 2022 Queen's Club Championships. They also made it to the third round at Wimbledon for the second year in a row.

Harri and Lloyd won their biggest title together at the ATP 500 2022 Hamburg European Open. They defeated Rohan Bopanna and Matwé Middelkoop. This win helped Harri reach the top 25 in July 2022. They also reached another final at the 2022 Croatia Open Umag.

At the 2022 National Bank Open, they reached the quarterfinals of a Masters 1000 event again. At the US Open, they reached their second Grand Slam quarterfinal. This was their first time reaching the quarterfinals at the US Open. Harri reached the top 15 in doubles, becoming world No. 14 in September 2022.

In November, Harri and Lloyd qualified for their first 2022 ATP Finals. They reached the semifinals there, showing they were among the best teams in the world.

World No. 7 and Mixed Doubles Major in 2023

Harri won his fourth title with Lloyd Glasspool in Adelaide. This win helped him reach the top 10 in the world, at No. 9, on January 9, 2023. He also reached another final with Glasspool in Dubai.

A very special moment happened at the US Open. Harri met Anna Danilina and asked her to be his partner for the mixed doubles tournament. They had just met, but they ended up winning the entire event! This was a huge Grand Slam title for Harri. He also reached his career-high ranking of world No. 7 in June 2023.

Wimbledon Champion in 2024

In April 2024, Harri won his fifth ATP title with his new partner, Henry Patten. They won the Grand Prix Hassan II in Morocco. They also won two Challenger tournaments in Madrid and Turin.

In May, Harri and Henry won their second ATP Tour title as a team at the Lyon Open. This was Harri's sixth ATP title overall.

The biggest highlight of 2024 was at Wimbledon. Harri and Henry Patten reached the final! They played against Jordan Thompson and Max Purcell from Australia. It was a very close match with three tie-breaks. Harri and Henry saved three match points and won their first Grand Slam title together! This was an incredible achievement.

After Wimbledon, they were runners-up at the China Open in October. The very next week, they won the Stockholm Open. They also reached the semifinals at the Vienna Open.

Harri and Henry qualified for the ATP Finals again in October. At the Finals, they played very well in their group matches. They beat the world No. 1 team and the US Open champions. They reached the semifinals, showing they are still one of the top teams in the world.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Harri and Henry Patten started 2025 strong. They reached the final at the Australian Open. This shows they continue to be a very strong team in men's doubles.
