Harri Heliövaara (born on June 4, 1989) is a professional tennis player from Finland. He is known for his success in doubles tennis. The ATP ranked him as high as world No. 3 in doubles on March 31, 2025. He also reached No. 194 in singles in December 2011.

Heliövaara has won three major Grand Slam titles. He won the men's doubles at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships and the 2025 Australian Open with his partner Henry Patten. He also won the mixed doubles at the 2023 US Open with Anna Danilina. Overall, he has won ten titles on the ATP Tour.

Before becoming a top professional, he won 20 ITF Futures doubles titles and eight ITF Futures singles titles. He also won the boys' doubles title at the 2007 Australian Open with Graeme Dyce. Heliövaara took a break from professional tennis in 2013 but returned to the sport in 2017.

During his break from tennis between 2014 and 2017, Heliövaara worked in other jobs. He interned at a company called McKinsey & Company. He also had an office job at Helsinki Airport. He met his wife, Sini, at the airport, where she worked full-time. Harri and Sini have two children, a daughter and a son.

Heliövaara trains at the SATA-Tennis Club in Helsinki. He also plays on their competitive team, which competes against other Finnish tennis clubs.

Harri's Tennis Journey

2021: First Big Wins

In 2021, Harri Heliövaara teamed up with Lloyd Glasspool. They won their first ATP Tour title in March at the 2021 Open 13 in France. They beat Sander Arends and David Pel in the final. Later that year, in October, he won his second title at the 2021 Kremlin Cup with Dutch player Matwé Middelkoop.

2022: Reaching New Heights

Heliövaara and Glasspool continued to do well in 2022. They reached two more ATP 250 finals. These were at the 2022 Open Sud de France and the 2022 Dallas Open. Harri entered the top 50 in doubles rankings in February 2022.

In May 2022, they played in their first Masters 1000 tournament, the 2022 Italian Open (tennis). They reached the quarterfinals, beating top players Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram. This was a big step for Heliövaara.

At the 2022 French Open, they reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time. This helped Harri move into the top 40, reaching World No. 39 in June 2022. They also reached their first final on grass at the 2022 Queen's Club Championships. They made it to the third round at Wimbledon for the second year in a row.

They won their biggest title together at the ATP 500 2022 Hamburg European Open. This win helped Heliövaara reach the top 25 in July 2022. They also reached the final at the 2022 Croatia Open Umag.

At the 2022 National Bank Open, they reached the quarterfinals of another Masters 1000 event. They also made it to their second Grand Slam quarterfinal at the US Open. This pushed Heliövaara into the top 15 in September 2022.

In November, Heliövaara and Glasspool qualified for their first 2022 ATP Finals. They reached the semifinals there, showing they were among the best teams.

2023: A Grand Slam Mixed Doubles Title

Harri won his fourth ATP title with Lloyd Glasspool in Adelaide in January 2023. This win helped him enter the top 10, reaching No. 9 in the world. They also reached the final in Dubai.

A special moment happened at the US Open. Harri met Anna Danilina and asked her to be his partner for mixed doubles. They ended up winning the entire tournament at Flushing Meadows!

2024: Wimbledon Champion and More Titles

In April 2024, Heliövaara started playing with a new partner, Henry Patten. They won their first title together at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Morocco. They also won two Challenger tournaments, the Madrid Challenger and the Turin Challenger.

In May, they won their second ATP Tour title as a team at the Lyon Open.

A huge achievement came at Wimbledon. Heliövaara and Patten reached the final. They played a thrilling match against Jordan Thompson and Max Purcell, winning in three close sets. This was their first Grand Slam title together!

After Wimbledon, they were runners-up at the China Open in October. The next week, they won the Stockholm Open. They also reached the semifinals at the Vienna Open.

Heliövaara and Patten qualified for the ATP Finals again. They had a great run, winning all their group matches. They reached the semifinals before losing a very close match.

2025: Australian Open Champion and World No. 3

Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten continued their success into 2025. They won the doubles title at the Australian Open. They defeated Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the final. This made Heliövaara the first Finnish player to win more than one men's doubles major championship.

After this win, Heliövaara reached his career-high ranking of World No. 3 in doubles on March 31, 2025.

At the Qatar Open, they reached the quarterfinals. They even beat Novak Djokovic and Fernando Verdasco. They then reached the semifinals of the Miami Open and the Monte-Carlo Masters.

In March, they were runners-up at the Dubai Tennis Championships. At the French Open, they reached the quarterfinals. They also made it to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.
