Harriet Browne facts for kids
Harriet Mary Browne Owen (1798–1858) was an English writer and composer. She was the sister of a famous poet named Felicia Hemans. Harriet's grandfather was a consul from Venice who lived in Liverpool, England. Her family later moved to Denbighshire in North Wales because of her father's work.
Harriet grew up near towns like Abergele and St. Asaph in Flintshire. She later married a man named Owen.
Her Life and Work
Harriet Browne Owen was known for writing music and books. Sometimes, it was hard to tell which songs were hers. This was because another composer living at the same time had a very similar name.
Besides creating music, Harriet also wrote a book about her sister, Felicia Hemans. This book was called The works of Mrs. Hemans, with a memoir by her sister. She also used a different name for some of her writings, which was Mrs. Hughes.
