Understanding Barrios and Sectors
What are Barrios?
In Puerto Rico, a barrio is like a small district or neighborhood. It's a way to divide up a larger town or municipality. Think of it as a section of a city or county.
How Barrios are Divided into Sectors
Barrios are often split into even smaller areas called sectores. The word sectores means sectors in English. These sectors can have different names depending on what kind of area they are.
For example, a sector might be called an urbanización (which is like a housing development) or a reparto (another type of housing area).
