Haven is a small, unincorporated community in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, United States. It's located within the town of Mosel. You can find it east of I-43, a major highway, between the cities of Sheboygan and Cleveland, Wisconsin. An "unincorporated community" means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of a larger area.
Haven's Past
Haven has an interesting history! A military training area called Camp Haven was once located here. It was named after the community. This camp operated from 1949 until November 16, 1959. It was used as an anti-aircraft testing range. This means they tested weapons designed to shoot down enemy aircraft.
After the camp closed, the land was sold to a company called Wisconsin Power and Light. They planned to build a nuclear power plant there, which would have been called the Haven Nuclear Power Plant. However, those plans never happened.
Instead, a famous golf resort called Whistling Straits was built on the site. This resort is well-known for its beautiful golf courses. It even hosted a major international golf tournament, the Ryder Cup, in 2021.
