Haven Lake is a pretty lake in the state of Delaware, in the United States. It was created a long time ago by building a dam across the start of the Mispillion River. This type of lake is often called a "mill pond" because they were once used to power mills.
What is Haven Lake?
Haven Lake is a special kind of lake known as a mill pond. This means it was formed when people built a dam to hold back water. The dam was built across the very beginning of the Mispillion River. This river then flows out of the lake.
The dam that created Haven Lake is quite old. It helps to control the water flow of the Mispillion River. Lakes like Haven Lake are important for local wildlife and for people to enjoy.
Where is Haven Lake?
Haven Lake is found in the city of Milford. This city is a part of Delaware. A big road called U.S. Route 113 goes through Milford. Haven Lake is located to the west of this highway.
U.S. Route 113 actually crosses over the Mispillion River. This river is important because it marks the border between two counties in Delaware: Sussex County and Kent County. Haven Lake is also very close to another lake called Silver Lake.
