Learning About Nature at Haw River
A big part of Haw River State Park is teaching people about nature. It has a special place called the Summit Environmental Education Center. This center is run by the North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation.
What is the Summit Center?
The Summit Center used to be a retreat for a church group. Now, it's a place for learning and outdoor fun. It can host up to 180 people overnight. There are rooms like a motel and larger dorm rooms.
The center also has eight meeting rooms. There's a cafeteria for meals. You can enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. There's even a six-acre lake and cool hiking trails.
Who Uses the Center?
The Summit Center is often used to train people who work for the state. This includes park rangers and public school teachers. They come here to learn new skills.
When state groups are not using the center, other groups can. Businesses might have meetings there. Families can use it for reunions. It's a great spot for many different events.
