Hawk Junction is a small community in Ontario, Canada. It's located north of Highway 101. This community is about 30 kilometers (19 miles) east of Wawa. A Look Back: Hawk Junction's History

The community of Hawk Junction began in 1909. It was founded by people from Italy, Scotland, and France. They came to the area when the Algoma Central Railway was being built.

Sadly, a big fire destroyed Hawk Junction in 1923-1924. But the people worked hard to rebuild it. Today, it is an important stop for the Algoma Central Railway.

Life in Hawk Junction Today

For a short time, Hawk Junction had no businesses. In September 2017, the Big Bear Hotel closed. This meant residents had to drive to Wawa for everything they needed.

Good news! The Big Bear Hotel has since reopened. It now serves lunch and dinner regularly. The hotel also hosts the Hawk Junction Winter Craft Sale in late November.

Hawk Junction is a great spot for outdoor adventures. Many people start their hunting and fishing trips here. In winter, it's a popular place for snowmobile riders.

In 2021, about 138 people lived in Hawk Junction. They lived in 72 homes. This number was a bit lower than in 2016, when 158 people lived there.
