Hecla and Griper Bay is a large bay located in the Arctic. It's like a big arm of the ocean reaching into the land. You can find it in the Hazen Strait, which is a narrow passage of water. This bay is on the northern side of Melville Island in Canada. It's special because it's split between two Canadian territories: the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The bay got its name from the ships of a famous Arctic explorer named William Edward Parry. His ships were called HMS Hecla and HMS Griper.

Exploring Hecla and Griper Bay

Hecla and Griper Bay is surrounded by interesting landforms. On its western side, you'll find places like Long Point, Middle Point, Nias Point, and Cape Fisher. To the south of the bay is Sabine Bay. If you look to the east, you'll see Eldridge Bay and the Sabine Peninsula. At the northeastern opening of Hecla and Griper Bay is Macdougall Point. These features help define the shape and look of this Arctic bay.
