Helen Nicoll (born 10 October 1937 – died 30 September 2012) was a British author who wrote many books for children. She is best known for creating the fun Meg and Mog series. These popular books are about a friendly witch named Meg and her cat, Mog.
Helen Nicoll wrote 17 books in total during her career. For over 40 years, she worked closely with Jan Pieńkowski, who drew all the amazing pictures for her books.

Her Early Life and Education
Helen Nicoll was born in Natland, England. She went to school at Blackwell and later at Badminton School in Bristol. After school, she spent a year studying the violin at Dartington Hall in Devon.
Creating the Meg and Mog Series
The Meg and Mog books are Helen Nicoll's most famous works. These stories follow the adventures of Meg, a witch who often gets things wrong, and her loyal cat, Mog. Their adventures are always full of magic and humor. The books are loved by young readers around the world.
Starting an Audiobook Company
In 1983, Helen Nicoll started her own company called Cover to Cover. This company made audiobooks, which are books you can listen to. It was a new way for people to enjoy stories. Later, in 2000, a big company called BBC Worldwide bought Cover to Cover.
Her Family Life
Helen Nicoll married Robert Kime in 1970. Robert was an interior designer and also bought and sold old items. Helen and Robert had two children together, a daughter and a son.
