Helmut Oswald Maucher (born December 9, 1927 – died March 5, 2018) was a very important German businessman. He was the main boss, or CEO, of Nestlé from 1990 to 1997. Nestlé is one of the biggest food companies in the world! He started working at Nestlé when he was young. He even did an apprenticeship at a Nestlé factory in Germany right after high school. Later, he became the honorary chairman of Nestlé in Switzerland. This was a special title given to him after he stepped down from being the chairman in 2000.

Early Life and Education
Helmut Maucher was born on December 9, 1927, in a place called Eisenharz, Germany. When he was 19, Nestlé bought the milk company where he and his father worked. After finishing high school, he started a business apprenticeship at that same company.
Later, he moved to Nestlé in Frankfurt. While working there, he also studied business at Frankfurt University. He worked hard and earned a Master's degree in Business.
Leading Nestlé to Success
From 1964 to 1980, Helmut Maucher held many different important jobs at Nestlé in Frankfurt. In 1975, he became the General Director for the Nestlé Group in Germany.
On October 1, 1980, he was asked to move to Switzerland. There, he became the General Director for the entire Nestlé Group and joined its main leadership team.
In November 1981, he became a key member of Nestlé's main board in Vevey. From 1990 to 1997, he was both the president and a delegate of this board. During this time, he helped Nestlé grow into the largest food company in the world! It had about 260,000 employees.
After stepping down as a delegate in 1997, he remained president of the board until 2000. Then, he was given the special title of honorary president. This was a huge honor because he was the first person who wasn't Swiss to get such a high position in a major Swiss company.
Maucher also served on the board of trustees for the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies.

Later Life and Passing
Helmut Maucher passed away at his home in Bad Homburg, Germany, on March 5, 2018.
