Henry Albert Hartland (born August 2, 1840 – died November 28, 1893) was an Irish artist. He was famous for his beautiful watercolour paintings. He mostly painted landscapes, showing nature's beauty.

Early Life in Ireland
Henry Albert Hartland was born on August 2, 1840. His birthplace was Bellevue, Mallow, in County Cork, Ireland. His father was William Baylor Hartland. Henry went to the Christian Brothers' School in Cork city. Later, he studied art at the Cork School of Art.
His family worked with plants. His brother, William Baylor Hartland, was a well-known expert on plants. Henry was also the uncle of Gertrude Hartland, who became a famous illustrator.
Hartland's Artistic Career
After finishing art college, Henry worked as an illustrator. He worked for a bookseller in Cork. His job was to sketch nature and landscapes. He earned 30 shillings each week.
Later, he helped create scenery for plays. He worked for the Cork Theatre and the Theatre Royal, Dublin. Around 1870, Hartland moved to Liverpool in England. He lived there for most of his life.
Popularity and Exhibitions
Henry Hartland's paintings were very popular. People bought his artworks as fast as he could paint them. He lived in London for a short time. He also lived in Huddersfield for a while. He often visited Ireland.
In 1865, he sold five landscape paintings. He sold them to the Royal Hibernian Academy during a visit to Cork. After that, he sometimes showed his art there. In 1868, he showed two landscapes at the Royal Academy in London. He was a member of the Society of Painters in Watercolour. He also joined the Liverpool Academy. Some of his watercolours were signed "Albert Hartland."
Henry Hartland died on November 28, 1893. He passed away in Waterloo, Liverpool, after an accident. His art was shown again in London in 1904. This was at the Guildhall Exhibition of Irish Art.
In 2021, The Port of Cork Company gave some of Hartland's seascape paintings to the Crawford Art Gallery. Hartland had spent time sketching around Cork harbour. He did this with his art student, John Fergus O'Hea.
