Henry Dyck (born September 5, 1911 – died November 15, 1993) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played as a left wing and centre. Henry Dyck is best known for playing one game in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Rangers.
Henry Dyck's Hockey Career
Henry Dyck started his professional hockey journey in 1932. He played for many different teams in various leagues. These leagues were often called "minor leagues" because they were not the top-level NHL.
Playing in Different Leagues
Henry played for teams like the Saskatoon Crescents in the Western Canada Hockey League. He also played for the Seattle Sea Hawks and Vancouver Lions in the North West Hockey League. Later, he joined teams in the Pacific Coast Hockey League and the American Hockey Association (AHA). Some of his AHA teams included the Tulsa Oilers and Kansas City Greyhounds.
Reaching the NHL
In the 1940s, Henry Dyck continued to play in different leagues. He played for the Johnstown Blue Birds in the Eastern Hockey League. He also spent time with teams in the American Hockey League (AHL). Finally, in the 1943-44 season, Henry Dyck got his chance to play in the National Hockey League. He played one game for the famous New York Rangers. This was a big achievement for him.
After his single NHL game, Henry Dyck's professional hockey career ended in 1944. He had a long career playing for many teams across North America.
