William Henry Walker (born October 9, 1987) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for Gladiadores de Anzoátegui in Venezuela. Before, he was known as Bill Walker. He is 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 m) tall. In 2008, the Washington Wizards picked him in the 2008 NBA draft. Soon after, he was traded to the Boston Celtics.

High School Basketball Career

Henry Walker was a star player at North College Hill High School in Ohio for three years. He was considered one of the best high school basketball players in the country. He played alongside O. J. Mayo, who also became an NBA player.

Some of his big achievements in high school include:

  • Being named a Second-team Parade All-American in 2006.
  • Being on the USA Today All-USA High School Boys' Basketball All-Junior Team in 2006.
  • Being part of the EA Sports High School Boys' Basketball First Team in 2006.
  • Being chosen for the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association All-State First Team.
  • Being on the Cincinnati Enquirer All-State First Team.

In 2005 and 2006, Henry helped his team, North College Hill, win two state championships in Ohio. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2006 State Tournament. In 2006, his team was ranked third nationally. He averaged 21.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game that year. He was even named the USA Today National Player of the Week in March 2006.

Henry also played for the USA White team in 2005, where they won all five of their games. He was the only player to be named MVP three times at the Reebok ABCD Camp.

College Basketball Career

Many top college teams wanted Henry Walker to play for them. He chose to go to Kansas State University. He started playing for Kansas State in December 2006. He quickly made a big impact, scoring 11.3 points and grabbing 4.5 rebounds per game in his first six games.

However, he suffered a serious knee injury (a torn ACL) in January 2007. This injury needed surgery and ended his first college season early. This was actually the second time he had this type of knee injury, as he had surgery on his other knee in 2003.

In the 2007–08 season, Henry played in 31 games. He averaged 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds. He scored a career-high 31 points in a game against Baylor. In April 2008, Henry and his teammate Michael Beasley decided to leave college early to enter the NBA draft.

Professional Basketball Career

Many people thought Henry Walker would be picked very early in the NBA draft. However, he had another knee injury during a workout just before the draft. Even with the injury, he was still picked by the Washington Wizards as the 47th overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft. Soon after, he was traded to the Boston Celtics.

NBA Teams

Henry played for the Boston Celtics from 2008 to 2010. During this time, he also spent some time playing in the NBA G League (which was then called the NBA Development League). This league helps players develop their skills.

In 2010, Henry was traded to the New York Knicks, where he played until 2012. He then played for the Miami Heat in 2015, which was his last NBA team.
