Henry Williams (June 6, 1970 – March 13, 2018), nicknamed "Hi-Fly," was an American professional basketball player. He was known for his amazing skills on the court, especially during his time playing in college and in Europe.

College Basketball Star
Henry Williams played college basketball for the UNC Charlotte team. He played under head coach Jeff Mullins from 1988 to 1992. During his four years with the Charlotte 49ers, Henry became their all-time leading scorer. He scored an incredible 2,383 points!
The school honored him by retiring his number 34 jersey. This means no other player on the team will ever wear that number again. He also helped lead the 49ers to the 1992 NCAA Tournament. They also made it to the 1989 NIT tournament.
Playing Pro in Europe
In 1992, Henry Williams was chosen in the 1992 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. He was the 44th player picked overall in the second round. However, he never played in the NBA for the Spurs.
Instead, Henry spent most of his professional career playing basketball in Europe. He played overseas for 10 years. During this time, he played for several Italian teams. These teams included Scaligera Verona, Treviso, and Roma.
Henry won an Italian League championship in 1997 with the Treviso team. Their coach was Mike D'Antoni. Henry was a fantastic scorer in the Italian League, averaging 21.7 points per game. He was even named the Italian League MVP in 1996.
He also won the 1998–99 FIBA Saporta Cup in 1999. In that championship, he was chosen as the FIBA Saporta Cup Finals MVP. During his long time in Italy, fans gave him nicknames like "Hi-Fly" and "Sprite of Indianapolis." He became a favorite player for supporters in Verona and Treviso.
Representing Team USA
Henry Williams also played for the senior Team USA national basketball team. With Team USA, he helped his country win a bronze medal. This was at the 1990 FIBA World Cup.
Life After Basketball
After his playing career, Henry Williams stayed involved with basketball. During the 2004–05 NBA season, he worked as an additional on-air talent for the Charlotte Bobcats. This means he helped with broadcasts of their games.
Later in his life, Henry became a Pastor at the New Zion Missionary Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Henry Williams passed away on March 13, 2018, due to kidney disease.
