Herbert Goodman (born August 31, 1977) is a retired American athlete. He was a professional mixed martial artist and a former NFL (National Football League) player. He played as a running back for the Green Bay Packers. People called him "Whisper" because he was very quiet.

Early Life and Sports Beginnings
Herbert Goodman was born and grew up in Miami, Florida. He went to Homestead High School. There, he was a talented athlete in track and field. He was especially good at the long jump. In his last year of high school, he finished third in the state for long jump.
Goodman started playing football during his senior year of high school. He continued playing football at Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. He ran for over 2,300 yards in two years. After college, the Green Bay Packers signed him to play in the NFL.
NFL Career
Herbert Goodman played in the National Football League (NFL) for two seasons. He was a running back and kick returner for the Green Bay Packers. He played in 12 games during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. He carried the ball a few times and returned kickoffs.
In 2002, he played for the Scottish Claymores in NFL Europa. He was a starting player and led the league in rushing yards. He even broke a team record for rushing yards in a single season. After his time in the NFL, Goodman also played in the CFL. He also played semi-professionally in Wisconsin. He stopped playing football in 2005 because of a knee injury he got in the CFL.
Mixed Martial Arts Career
After football, Herbert Goodman started a new career in mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2007. He became a professional fighter. He competed in big organizations like Bellator, M-1 Global, and King of the Cage.
Becoming a Champion
Goodman fought in a tournament called Combat USA. He won his semifinal match against Will Dicke. This win moved him to the Wisconsin State finals. In the finals, he fought Gerald Meerschaert. Goodman won this fight by submission, using a move called a "rear-naked choke." This made him the Middleweight State Champion of Wisconsin.
He was set to fight Louis Taylor, the Illinois State Champion, in a big match. However, Taylor had to pull out of the fight at the last minute. Goodman also fought Hector Lombard at Bellator 24, which was a tough fight he lost.
